Description
Situated deep in the Périgord Noir near Le Coux, at the confluence of the Vézère and Dordogne rivers, this château is very typical of the harmonious mixture of styles that have evolved over the centuries. The property is surrounded by peaceful park and gardens set on a south facing hillside, 25 km from Sarlat and less than an hour from Bergerac, in one of the loveliest areas of the Dordogne.

The oldest part of the château dates from the 16th century and over the years it has been added to and maintained by successive families who have lived here. It has much charm and originality and is comfortably furnished with family country furniture.

Accommodation
Chateau: There is a large salon with a fireplace and a piano, a dining room and games room, a fully equipped kitchen that opens onto a terrace, and a laundry room. The château has seven double bedroom, each with an en-suite bathroom. There is also central heating.

 - 7 double rooms at the 2nd floor with private bathroom and view on the valley.
 - 2 rooms on the first floor (with shower).
 - The kitchen with a large chimney.
 - A dining room (80 m2), very comfortably furnished.
 - The games room.
 - A large terrace with a superb view on a calm and charming valley.

The pool is heated and terraced and there is a variety of garden furniture.

House: The house is some distance from the château and is entirely private with its own access and pool. Again it dates from the same period as the château and has recently been restored with elegance and comfort.

The ground floor has a living room/dining room with large windows opening onto a covered terrace, and a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with shower and separate WC.

Upstairs are two further double bedrooms, each with bathrooms with a shower and separate WCs.

The house has its own pool, garden furniture and barbecue and there is television, hi-fi and a phone/fax.

Activities
There is a golf course, riding stables and good fishing within a radius of 2 to 5 km of the house, and endless places to walk and cycle. This part of the Dordogne is ideal for canoeing and rowing and when seen from the river, gives a marvellous and entirely different perspective.

The castle is within an easy drive of the amazing prehistoric caves of Lascaux and Les Eyzies and several châteaux, the great feudal castle of Beyac for example, towering high on the cliff above the river. Throughout the summer, most of the villages and towns have fetes and festivals, concerts, markets and sometimes country bric-a-brac markets, so you usually stumble across something going on somewhere every time you go out. Restaurants range from family run village ones to gastronomic, all at reasonable prices.

Bergerac and the Monbazillac and Péchamant vineyards close to it are 45 minutes from here. Périgueux with its old centre, fine food shops and market place around the cathedral is also 45 minutes away. Sarlat, 25 km, has a popular Saturday morning market, several restaurants and is lovely to walk around. Saint Emilion and some of the Bordeaux vineyards are between 80 and 100 km.
