Description
The Château, listed as an ‘Historical Residence of Character’, is situated on
the chalky, wooded hillsides which overlook the Dordogne valley. On the river’s
left bank, it sits east-south-east of Lalinde, on the departmental road D8E4, on
the way to Molières.
The proprietors, have transformed a medieval haunt into a holiday gîte in one
wing of the château. The château’s foundations date back to the 13th century and
possibly even earlier. In the 15th century its military architecture was
restructured due to changes in weaponry. In the 18th and 19th centuries serious
alteration work transformed it into what it is today. The château came into the
Saint-Exupery family when, in 1734, Suzanne de Beaudet married Etienne-Jacques
de Saint-Exupery, born 1715.
Since this dowry was given by Joseph de Beaudet (through his wife, Catherine de
Montalembert) for the marriage of their daughter, Suzanne, the Château has
remained in the Saint-Exupery family - which means that it has been in the
family for 267 years.
