Description
The Château is a XVllth century mansion, listed monument, "Patrimoine Historique",
comprising of a main building bordered on each side by outbuildings, on a
property of 20 hectares of grounds, moor and wood. It is one of the oldest
Périgord "Chartreuse'', built in 1650 on the vestiges of an old fortified castle
of which still remains a chapel with intersecting ribs, an hexagonal dovecot and
a few vestiges of the ramparts. The architectural entity is perfectly harmonious
with the main living quarters of the house being framed by two outbuildings
dating from the same period; the whole set in the midst of a pleasure garden of
3 hectares.
Accommodation
The property is a mansion full of charm, with softness and harmony that touch
you from the moment you arrive. Its interior is warm and comfortable, an
impressive mix of contemporary decor, antiques and fine art within a 17th
century family château. The living quarters in the castle occupy about 700
square meters, and consist of:
Ground Floor: 2 sitting-rooms with large chimneys, one with a library,
the other with a boudoir grand piano. (105 square meters and 33 square meters).
1 large dining-room (43 square meters). 1 large fully-equipped kitchen with
dishwasher, microwave, four-burner gas cooker, electric self-cleaning oven, etc.
(23 square meters). 1 utility room (15 square meters) with freezer,
washing-machine, refrigerator, with a small internal courtyard to dry the linen
and a wash basin for boots, etc. 1 entry hall for raincoats, boots, etc. 1
bedroom (24 square meters) with 2 beds (100 cm wide) and a washbasin. 1 bedroom
(24 square meters) with 1 bed (90 cm wide). 1 suite composed of a private
corridor, a large room (22 square meters) giving due south onto the chapel, a
bed (150 cm wide), a bathroom (16,5 square meters) with washbasin, bath, shower
cabin, WC. 1 bedroom (32 square meters) with a 150 cm-wide bed. A bathroom (18
square meters) with washbasin, bath, shower cabin, WC.
North East Tower: 1 large bedroom (25 square meters) with a 150 cm-wide
bed. 1 bedroom (18 square meters) with 2 x 100 cm-wide beds. 1 bathroom (14
square meters) with washbasin, bath/shower, WC.
South West Tower: 1 large bedroom (25 square meters) with a 140 cm-wide
bed. 1 bathroom (14 square meters) with washbasin, shower, WC. The property was
restored and equipped with great taste and meticulous care by an
architect-designer. The height of the ceiling on the ground floor is 5.5 meters
with an absolutely magnificent ensemble of beams, the floors are in terracotta
handmade tiles. The ceilings in the rooms are in plaster brought down to a
height of 4.5 meters, the floors are in old waxed parquet. All the furniture is
antique and in perfect harmony with the setting. There is a loggia in each
drawing room, one with bookshelves. The large drawing-room is equipped with 3
leather sofas (one 3 seater and two 2 seaters) plus various armchairs, the
second drawing-room has one sofa (one 3 seater) and material covered armchairs.
The two drawing-rooms, the dining-rooms and the kitchen are equipped to receive
music, the Hi-fi is in one of the drawing-rooms. There is also a phone and fax.
Outside
According to the moment of the day, there are different possibilities of ''rest
areas". The garden spreads over 3 hectares around the house and is perfectly
maintained, with various mixed borders and lawns regularly mown. A swimming-pool
has been built on a terrace (10 x 5.5 metres) with a wooden rest area, under
which is the technical room and a WC. Please note there is no fencing around the
pool. Various garden furniture (tables, chairs and deck-chairs) is available.

- Sites - Bordeaux,1 hr 30 by car. Toulouse, 2 hrs by car. Sea : "Bassin
d'Arcachon" and Atlantic ocean 2 hrs by car.
- Tennis : 6 km. Horse riding: wide choice within 10 kms. Golf: 4
golf courses within 30 kms. ' Walks: 1 GR (Grande randonnée - Walk circuit)

- Wide choice in the medieval "Bastides" district (in the southern
part of the Périgord and in the "Haut Agenais").
- The region is famous for its different music festivals
''classical an jazz" which attract musicians from all the world.
- There are many antique fairs, local markets and wine festivals
and tastings which are very well organised, which will help to make your visit
enjoyable and memorable.
- The region is also famous for its "cuisine". Restaurants give
extremely good value for money.
Travel
Train service: Bergerac. Well served by the Bordeaux/Paris TGV (high speed
train), stop at Libourne, immediate connection, on the same platform, travel
time: 4 hrs (Paris to Bergerac).
Air service: Bergerac. Flights Paris/Bergerac/Paris and London/Bergerac/London
every day.
