Daytrips and wine: Angers, our nearest large town, is a lovely, clean
medieval city with museums, loads of restaurants, quaint pedestrian-only streets
and the famous Apocalypse Tapestry housed at the 11th century Angers castle.
Other delightful towns: Saumur, Montsoreau, Montreuil-Bellay. Driving tours
along the Loire, the Sarthe and Loire rivers, all dotted with picture perfect
towns and hamlets. Daytrips to the pristine beaches of La Baule (1.5 hours) and
the coast of Brittany. And last but not least, tour the nearby vineyards at
Chinon, Bourgueil, Saumur, the Coteaux du Layon, Savennieres.
