Historic Local Towns
- The nearby town of Domfront is perched high up and naturally well
fortified. Many narrow streets with shops and restaurants are to be found.
Likewise the town of Fougeres boasts the largest medieval castle in Europe.
- Medieval history is all around at Mayenne, Laval and Lassay les
Chateaux. Roman history too at the Jublains fort. The spa town and therapeutic
centre of Bagnoles-de-l'Orne is to the north, and the Calvados region too.
- Wild rugged coastlines, broken by sandy beaches along the Brittany and
Normany coasts, and le Mont St-Michel. Seafood paradise, washed down with Saumur
wine from the Loire valley to the south.
- Cosmopolitan living: Too much relaxation? Then shop in chic Rennes or
Caen, or zip to Paris in 3 hours by car or train. Le Mans will get your heart
racing, or try wine tasting in the Loire valley.
