We are situated
10mins south of Caen, Normandy. Ideally placed for visiting the famous Normandy
beaches and historical Falaise. Bayeux 30mins. Deauville 30mins. Paris just over
2hrs. Our 3 luxury rental properties are situated within the 6-acre grounds of
the main Manoir. Each has it's own private 2-acre garden, sun terrace, BBQ and
outdoor seating. They are approached through electric gates, up a long
tree-lined drive to the main wrought iron gates. The grounds include a fully
stocked vegetable garden, (full time gardener brings produce straight to the
table), orchard, small fish lake, stream and pond. There are bikes, toys,
Playstation 2s, and baby-sitting at no extra charge (not available during July &
August).
Manor House
It is available on its own (sleeping 10), or as a complete complex along with Le
Petit Manoir and the Luxury Studio (sleeping 20). The Manoir has five double
bedrooms (all with TVs, DVDs and English satellite), four bathrooms, a
cloakroom, a study and library. Grand Salon, dining and family room (with 42"
flat screen plasma) and kitchen. There are also working open fires.
Le Petit Manoir
Beautifully appointed and newly renovated, decorated with French and English
antiques & chandeliers. Each room is spacious with oil radiators. The sun shines
into the kitchen, which opens out from double doors onto the sun terrace. New
granite, wood and stainless steel units, steel 4ring gas hob and oven, microwave
and Siemens stainless steel fridge/freezer. Granite table with seating for 5 and
easy chair.
New luxury white bathroom with shower over bath and views onto private back
garden. Living room with triple aspect views onto back garden, grounds up to
main Manoir and glass door onto courtyard, seating for 4, flat screen TV, DVD
(with free access to our library of 400dvds) and English satellite channels.
Stairs up to large double bedroom, two large windows and antique brass bed. In a
separate annex (2 steps from the kitchen door), is a new twin-bedded room, with
TV and DVD, and beautiful en-suite bathroom. There is a separate laundry room,
convenient for both properties. It has 2 washing machines and 2 driers. In the
courtyard there is private under cover parking.
Luxury Studio
Across the lawn (150m),and fountain from the main Manoir is the large Studio
property. Decorated in the same style with French and English antiques, this
also is newly renovated. A kitchen of 550sqft is on the first floor with wood
stripped floors and high vaulted ceilings, this is a truly magnificent room. New
stainless steel 4gas hob and electric oven, microwave and American style
fridge/freezer. Dining seating for four, two 3-seater settees and easy chairs.
TV and DVD, English satellite and DVD library, views onto courtyard and back
garden. Also on the first floor is the living room or second bedroom. Usually we
find this room suits children better as the nearest bathroom is on the ground
floor, en-suite to the main bedroom. Again it is 550sqft with wood floors and
vaulted ceiling. TV and VCR, double bed settee. Suitable for 2 adults or 4
children with views onto back garden, courtyard and front grounds of main Manoir
and fountain. On the ground floor is the luxurious double bedroom with
additional single bed. This is an L-shaped room with wood floors and views onto
courtyard and sun terrace with BBQ. There are tea/coffee making facilities, flat
screen TV, DVD and spacious en-suite dressing-room/bathroom. Luxurious white
double sunken bath, separate shower cubicle and white French antique double
washbasin, leading through to separate toilet. This property has an independent
2-acre garden and private parking.
Local Activities & Area
The village of Bretteville-sur-Laize is 4mins away, where there is an excellent
variety of shops including: newsagent, supermarket, bakers, butchers,
restaurants, cinema, pizzeria, beauty salon, hairdressers, horse-riding and
fishing. Historical Falaise (the birth place of William the Conqueror) is just
15mins away with a vast array of shops and lively Saturday market.
Of course the beaches are the most obvious answer and there are many to choose
from. Most are about 20mins. from us, and one of our favourites is Cabourg. It
has something to please everyone in the family. Huge sandy beach, with small
pools for toddlers and surfing waves for teenagers. There is a Disney Club in
high season, right on the beach, where you can leave your little children under
supervised care for a small charge, and next to it the best mini-golf around, to
keep the older ones amused. The magnificent Grand Hotel over looks the beach,
where there is a Casino and indoor pool open to non-residents. A short walk
across the green takes you to the intriguing French shops and wonderful cafes
and restaurants, where you can sit outside 'til past dark! Luc-sur-mer,
Arromanches, there are many beaches to explore and many activities including,
beach yachts, sailing, horse-riding and good old fashioned sand-castle
competitions. 15mins from us there has just opened a new "Parc Aquatique", with
indoor/outdoor pools, slides and wave tunnels. Also, to keep Mum and Dad happy,
fitness room, sauna, Jacuzzi and adult only pool! For the boisterous we have the
adventure jungle of walk-ways and pulleys through the trees, a great day out.
Our properties have toys and Playstation 2s to keep you amused, and bikes.
Children can bike through the countryside here, free from traffic, down to the
local village to buy ice-creams. We have two local Zoos and the new Aquarium
with submarine adventure at Cherbourg (just over an hour away).
