The Château: On 26 June 1944,
the Surrender of Cherbourg
was signed between the American General Collins and the German General von
Schlieben, within its walls. There are
eight entirely renovated bedrooms
available, with a total of 14 beds, each with a private bathroom with WC. Two of
them are master bedrooms. Other rooms open to guests include
a big friendly kitchen,
a large
dining room
with a huge and magnificent fireplace,
a vast Louis XVI drawing room/library
with large comfortable sofas specially designed for this room and original wood
panels from an old convent in Valognes,
a small Louis XVI games room
where guests can play the piano or chess,
a superb billiards room,
and
a
recreation room for children
in the 17th Century outbuildings. Guests will enjoy strolling in the huge
landscaped garden planted with rare trees around the château, where they can
discover romantic 19th Century "follies", such as a small manor built to the
scale of children, a chapel, a temple to Neptune, a terrace laid out on the bank
of the river, a big vegetable garden with superb 19th Century greenhouses, and
the 17th Century stables. The property
is equipped with satellite television. The bedrooms have telephone connections
(Internet, etc) and the bathrooms are fitted out with high quality baths and
other, towel dryers, etc.
Outside: 10 Bicycles available. Open air enclosed swimming-pool heated
from May to September situated on the property's vegetable garden next to 19th
century orchards.
