Description
The Chateau is a 14th century French Historical listed building. The medieval
castle has remarkable architectural features. There are vast outbuildings a
stable a barn and a dried moat. It is situated on 2.5 acres of grounds and has
been restored to the highest standard. The Chateau was home to a military
Protestant Cavalry of 200 men and horses. In 1794 a republican army set it on
fire. It wasn't until 1986 that restoration began to restore it to its former
glory. Archery is available and an outdoor swimming pool.
Local Area
Situated in Cezais 4kmfrom Vouvant, one of the prettiest villages in France with
its meandering river and Gothic church. The forset of Mervent-Vouvant is nearby
and is full of activities including Horse-riding, Cycling, Fishing Canoeing,
Swimming to name but a few. There is a restaurant, a beach and a Zoo here also.
The area is steeped in history of wars and legends with many beautiful Chateaux
Churches and Historical buildings to discover. The nearest towns are Fontenay le
Comte and Chataigneraie about 12 and 8km away.There are lovely beaches on the
coast about 60km away where the airport of La Rochelle is situated. 60Kms north
lies Nantes, another big airport and Poitiers to the East about an hours drive.
Niort is 30 mins drive and has a fast train to Paris. It takes an hour and a
half.
20 mins from the Green Venice for boat activities.
